As
a deaf person and an adult learner, I would like to explain some of the problems
that I experience.
Deaf and hard of hearing people
often have problems being able to understand and lip-read
other people - lip-reading is not easy! However, it
is helpful if other people speak slowly, clearly and
keep to the point.
Being in a group and understanding
the conversation is difficult if everyone talks at the
same time. This can be made easier for the deaf person
if only one person is speaking, you know who is talking
and they repeat the information more than one time.
